Jelly Roll 1600

Have you heard of this? It's one of those things you can easily do instead of doing a million other things you should be doing. I twisted Jessica's arm the other night and made her sew the majority of the top. I first saw it here and also here. Some quilters race to see who can finish sewing first. I have a lot few jelly roll type fabrics sitting around collecting dust  as decoration. We chose the Charisma line and within a couple of hours (way over the fastest race time) had a fun lap size top. It's now in the pile of unfinished projects until I get to the next step.
Do you have 40 strips of fabric lying around doing nothing? You might want to try this for fun!

A Quilt For My Grandson

I started this way back when I found out he was to be. Thank goodness I finished before he grew up.
It's my version of an eye spy quilt. Hand quilted with size 5 pearl cotton.
 Simple quilting.
Jess told me not to get all uptight about the quilting. It's wonkier in some places than in others. I tried.
There are fabrics in here from several lines, some of which were donated by Jennifer and Katelyn. Thanks you two.
I was having so much fun making the blocks that I ended up with enough for a twin size quilt. Pay attention much? Do math much? Jess asked me to make it with blocks on the front and back. Double the fun.....
The individual blue blocks on either side were a happy mistake.

I've said it before, I'll say it a million times. I love this boy!

I'm So Very Behind

I really don't know where the time goes, but it does. I've done lots. Really.

I've also received lovely gifts. These gifts came last week and I have yet to say thank you to the givers.
So to these two wonderful women I hope the adage better late than never stands.....

Dee made this mini as a part of pay it forward. I. Love. It! Thanks Dee, it brightened my day!

My Sister sent these slippers. She knitted and felted them. I cannot express how comfy they are.

I've hardly taken them off since they got here.

THANKS SO VERY MUCH!

Saturday

I've been meaning to do this for awhile now and today was the day. I went over to Schoeniach, to see a quilt shop called PatchCom. The owner, Brigit Klein was having a quilt fest. People brought their quilts to display while they were shopping, taking part in activities, watching demos or having coffee and visiting in a beautiful outdoor area. There were a really nice variety of quilts. Nadine Ruggles was there with a ton of her Inchies, she makes it look so easy. Everytime I see her mini works of art, I want to try making some. Brigit's shop is a lovely light filled space. If you haven't made it out there, I would recommend a visit.

I was able to get this quilted and bound in a realatively short time. I had fun making these silly meandering flowers and I love the rich colors of the Kaffee Fassett fabrics.

One more down a million more to go.....

Relax and Recycle

Yes, I too am on the string quilt band wagon. What's not to love? I'm using any paper I would normally throw away for my foundation and small peices of fabric I can't bear to throw away. The only peices you must be precise with, for the spider web pattern, are the middle "kite" shapes. I love the randomness of the rest of the quilt. I only have about 94 more triangles to go for a decent sized quilt. Hmmmm, maybe it will be a baby sized quilt.

If you'd like to try one there is a great tutorial here.

One down, so many to go......

Finally finished one of the quilt tops..... Ok, I only tied this one instead of quilting it, but it counts. I will put it up in the shop and hope it inspires someone. Speaking of the shop, I just want the crew to know that you all have been VERY inspired this week! What fun ideas we have come up with in the last few days. If we can even get half of them done, it will be great, but I think we can do it all! Can't wait to see your butterflies hung Jennifer, Katelyn was working hard to try and finish them.... Then there is the new fabric...... YUM! See ya'll tomorrow!

The Three of Us

I want you all to meet my sister Sherie and my brother-in-law Doug. We had such a good day together taking in some of the sights around Salem, OR. If my other half were here, life would be perfect!
This is what was left of a fantastic taco we got at a street market, right before we ate it....

Lemonade was also in order for the day. I think we can do this for the 4th.......

Sherie also took me to a quilt shop. It was a cute place with some interesting ideas. I of course had to make a purchase and start a project here! Why do I do this to myself??? Wonder if I can get it completed...... Time is already flying by.

Drowning in projects

So many projects, so little time. As if I didn't have enough to do, I am one of the suckers who signed on to do the the cathedral window quilt. I got my fabric, washed it, and got my sewing kit together. What I didn't do was read all the instructions. What I know now is there are a million blocks in this quilt. I may have to hurt Kelly....... Today I completed 3 large blocks, 2 small blocks and I am not sure I want to look at them again. So I went on to a smaller fun project, got mostly done to find out I didn't have enough stuffing to complete it! I did get a small bag done and now I am crocheting tiny flowers again. If all else fails, I can crochet tiny flowers.......
