Don't know why I fight it.

I didn't want to go.
I so did not want to get up at 0430 get in the car and drive ride for three hours.
My dear daughter told me to stop being silly and go.
I also realized I was too tired to stay home.
He let me take my pillow and sleep and that made it all better.

It was worth it.

Another full day of complete relaxation in the sun.

Why fight it?

0845 we were there and he was off.

Though it seemed crowded here, this is just everyone getting up the mountain. There is so much to this area though that when he got through this, he said he was alone quite a lot of the time.

As he started up, this was the view, I am down there somewhere.

My view wasn't quite as spectacular but it was a gorgeous day to be walking, even so early.

This town has a bit of everything and a lot of it is yummy, even if it's a bit outrageous. Jessica if I only knew whether it was a girl, I still couldn't have gotten this! Ha Ha

For lunch we met up there, see the buildings up in the middle of the photo? I rode the bergbahn up and waited in the sun.

And that is where we spent the next three hours. Eating, talking, napping and watching a wedding.

Watching the people watching the wedding.

I told him if he hadn't already married me a million years ago that I would make him marry me there.

While it was still light, we started home. This is the part about summer here that I love. When the sun is shining, and the days are long.

The tunnels that help you get down the mountain.

Looking back from where we came. If you look at the moutain just above the curve in the road you can see one of the tunnels.

The road is really windy.

There is this one curve where you can almost die, every time.

I almost lost my camera out the sun roof trying to take this. I'm still not sure how I caught it.

We made it back into town in time to make it to the opening night at the Biergarten.
Flammkuchen, yum.

It only took a million years

At least that's the way it felt. It did take me too long. Why is it I start with great intentions, I will finish this project before I start another, but it never works that way? Ever. I'm learning to live with it.
To help myself along, I decided to bind this on my machine. I don't mind doing it by hand but it would have taken forever and I was kinda over it. I like the way it turned out and may do all of my "everyday" quilts this way. This one is for me.

I used Basic Grey, Urban Couture for the top.
You know who and I had fun out in the snow. I seriously can't believe how deep it is and it's still coming down.
The back is purple Kona cotton with my left over fat quarters of Basic Grey.
Have a great day!

Quick Goodbye Before I Go

This morning You know who, The Oldest, Brink, and I head out for our annual ski holiday in Austria. We will meet a good friend there. Dear Jess and Uber, we'll miss you very much. We have been very fortunate to have made this trip for more years than you want to hear about. It is one of my most favorite places on this amazing earth. Ask anyone who knows me, I tend to go on about it. I only do so because I really wish you could go with me. Ya'll say a prayer that I don't break myself.
The view from my kitchen. We had a foot of snow last night.

Just to hold you over, these last two photos are sneak peaks of my next projects.

See ya later.

Gee, I think the snow is heavy.....

It took me a second to realize something was different. I mean it is dark outside and all.... This is my terrace. Chair covered in snow, planter with a snow hat, and behind that a post with a precarious perching of snow.... There is a point.... The plants behind the chair, were yesterday, taller than the post.... I hope they are just bent over under the snow. Oops, I need to make sure Evie can't jump that high!!!

Snow and a gift

It started snowing yesterday. We got to send some people home early last night.... I was leaving at that time anyway so it was great fun, all those other people and I leaving at the same time on a snowy evening. When I got home an hour later I just hoped that the ones who had father to go were safe too... It's still snowing this morning. The urge to just stay home to bake and sew is almost overwhelming.
The people I work with are really great. I know any of you out there who read some of our little things think yeah yeah, whatever, but it is true. Even on the days that I want to stay home, I go because I don't want to miss the people that are there that day..... So anyway, one of the reasons I like these people so much is they sometimes go out of their comfort zone to try new things. When they do it for you personally, it just warms your heart. Lizy was my secret santa this year and this is what she made me! She snuck around, right under my nose, learning paper peicing from Leah. I am honored to have her first project. Look closely, it's as if she has been doing this all along. Up until a few months ago she didn't sew! Thank you Lizy!!!

Now off into the snow.....

Feels like winter

For those out there waiting for this, it's heavy, it's wet, but it is snow.... For those who can't be here, I miss you! I don't think I am ready for the cold........

Aren't they cute?

Everyone else is always posting cute pictures of their kids. I decided it was time for me to do the same. Ok, that and I have been an unblogger this week. Anyway, what ever the reason, I wanted to share one of my favorite photos of my oldest two. It was such a good day, they had so much fun together. Played well, no fights, what more can a mom ask for?

Silly things......

What's this, you're asking? It's my dog, in the snow. Pretty much all the way in the snow. This is one of his favorite things to do. He looks like he's trying to imitate a dolphin but I don't think he's ever seen a dolphin. So he must just be being himself. It's funny. He also loves to run toward you and slide between your legs. This year he and I ended up in a pile cause he miscalculated. Amazingly, that was funny too.......

Something else I do

Well, I didn't feel particularly creative this week. I did get the fabric straightened at work, did some rearranging on one wall, (prompted by Jenny P ) and made the crew chili on Friday. I do love cooking for them, they always say they like it and I choose to believe them! I was thinking about a nice relaxing weekend but the Dearly Beloved had another thing on his mind..... SKIING! So off we went. This entails getting up at 5am, yep 0500, and driving for three hours to one of the most beautiful places on the earth. It was a bit overcast (snowing) when we got there but cleared up (became visible at certain elevations) and we had a great time. I am not a natural skier. I go because the rest of the family LOVES it and I want to be with them. I have improved greatly this year, which means they don't have to wait for me as long and can't catch me huffing and puffing with that camera as much as they used to! I have added a picture just in case you think I am making this up.... I do look like a small abomidable snow person.
