Dear Sherie,

Are we old enough to dress like twins yet? No? Oops.....

I found this gorgeous madras fabric in downtown Stuttgart Saturday. It is light and lovely and the fabric was wide enough for two dresses. Since I knew it would also go with my plum sweater (which I first saw on Jennifer and pretty much felt deprived of until I bought my own) I couldn't resist. Sherie, I hope you have a plum sweater too. Yes, it's another shirred dress. No, I don't care that I may over do this. Thank you.
Thanks Kelly for taking my picture!

I made this a bit back and could never get any decent photos. Sorry Jess for all the facelessness. My face just wasn't so hot this day. Anyway, it's reversible, with a crisscross back. Our uniform at work is an apron. We all make our own and put a bit of our own personality into each one. Most of the girls (yes they are all my girls) don't like the straps that tie behind the neck so I got it into my head to experiment. I used a wide grosgrain ribbon for the tie. Much less expensive and much quicker than a fabric tie and with all the gorgeous ribbon out there.... yum. So tell me what you think. Please be gentle with my fragile ego. Say things like, it would be pretty if it weren't so ugly. I'll get hung up on the pretty part and it'll save my feelings. Just kidding, I can take it.

I took the long way home today. Just because I like this view. Today I thought I'd share it with you even though it's kinda blurry.

It's finally top down weather, thank goodness!

The Color of Happiness

My niece asked for an apron.  What color? She wrote, "I was thinking a bright and sunshine yellow. It just reminds me of happiness!" This didn't surprise me because sunshine and happiness are two words that come to mind when I think of her. Though most days I still think of her as the little Tidbit she was, she is now a grown woman. A young woman that I don't know half as well as I'd like but that I love tons. I knew just the fabric I would use. Hope you like it Jelly Bean.

Kelly and I had a lot of fun out in the snow. You can't  really see how hard it's coming down unless you expand it.....
The fabric is Kona cotton and Sunshine by April Cornell for Moda.

Five more gnome key fobs. It was a mob scene when I took them out at work. Those girls are scary.

Joan Read This Carefully

I am seriously having trouble with blogger tonight.
~
The above photo is unwilling to stay put where it belongs and I can't get my text to write above it..... Good news though for those who like for things to be spelled correctly, my spell check seems to be working wonderfully.....
~
Anyway, the above bag, inspire by this person, is what I hope to be the first of several to corral my small pieces of fabric. Not sure what color I'll try next.
~
I have three people willing to play Pay it Forward with me. Jaclyn, Adrienne and Joan. Joan! It's you! I can't convince Mary A to start a blog, so it's you! Get crackin' !
My fourth apron. I made this one reversible too.
Be nice, I had to take these by myself. Now that we have had our time change here, it's dark WAY TO EARLY. So, You Know Who wasn't home in time to torment help me.
Not sure what I'll do with this one..... I may have to keep it.

Repeats

I was thinking the other day that it's time to take down the Sunday Brunch Jacket hanging in the shop, hoping to inspire others to sew something. I really love that little jacket and now I will fold it up and send it to Jessica. Thank goodness she sees no pressure in me making these little things. I haven't asked Uber about that...... Anyway, I just love these patterns and when our corduroy came in at the same time as the Marrakesh line, I couldn't resist the way they looked together. This is size 6-12 months. Maybe the next time Baby E comes in I can see if it fits her. She's growing fast though...

I made another of Heather Bailey's aprons. This time I decided to make it reversible. It works. It wasn't too difficult either.
More later.

New Apron

We just received patterns from Heather Bailey at the shop. I decided to try the apron. It's a simple pattern and I like the way it turned out. I love aprons, I don't like ruining my clothes at work, I really need to remember to put mine on before going out on the floor...
~
If you've sewn with a few patterns, you shouldn't find this too difficult. The bodice is probably the trickiest spot. I made this with black kona cotton. Just a bit of useless fun. This is a mini scrap quilt. The squares are only 3 inches. Well sort of. I started it last night because I just needed to sew something and was too tired to really try.
More later.
